In today’s society, having a positive attitude is, by general consent, commendable. Zig Ziglar, an American author and motivational speaker noted years ago that, “Positive thinking won’t let you do anything but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” It is evident that the effect of a positive attitude is immense, and even if success is not the outcome, a positive attitude reduces the sting of an unsuccessful attempt.

Living with a winning attitude is not about winning all the time – for as long we all breathe it is pretty certain that there will be times we win, and times we lose. A winning attitude is about living our daily lives with the healthier choice of attitude. Why is it so important? Well, Albert Einstein summed it up succinctly when he said, “Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character”.

Exhibiting A Winning Attitude

A winning attitude is very easy to determine. Attitude could be an outlook, approach, stance, position, and mind-set. If two buckets were labeled and placed in front of us, and we were given a mix of post cards that illustrate positive and negative attitude traits, we would be able to break them out into their respective buckets. To ensure that we exhibit a winning attitude at all times, this could be a useful mental tool to classify whatever action or reaction that we are about to enact.

So, how can we exhibit a winning attitude everyday? What are the kinds of things that we do to accomplish this? Below, I have listed some character traits from my perspective that I think are admirable and good exhibitions of a winning attitude. One again as a reader, you have the power to co-contribute, and take this the list a step further and include additional instances via comments below.

Below are exhibition traits that would belong to the winning attitude bucket:

  1. Having a purpose of heart; being dedicated and purpose-driven to accomplish goals in the midst of odds.
  2. Always striving to be the one to stand out in any group of people you find yourself in to support integrity.
  3. Seeking knowledge and understanding in order to better discern matters, and be accurate and fair.
  4. Being open-minded, but never succumbing to any motivation that goes against the core principles; being strong-minded, but not stubborn.
  5. Shelving your comfortable position for a while, and trying to understand issues other people are facing, and where they are coming from.
  6. Displaying empathy to others especially when they are facing difficult situations or circumstances.
  7. Striving not to be corrupted by material things, and understanding that sometimes they (material things) can be the means to an end, but should never the end in itself.
  8. Not taking advantage of, or belittling of others in pursuit of success. Not promoting “by hook or by crook” tactics.
  9. Having an excellent spirit that makes you favored by some over others.
  10. Giving the right counsel or advice that builds; not promoting purely selfish desires.
  11. Having a sense of self worth in oneself and recognizing or encouraging it in others.

The only way that I’m able to keep a winning attitude is simply by having an open mind-set of UNDERSTANDING. Understanding that the God I believe in says “This too shall pass”. Understanding that when things go wrong it is not that God is refusing to answer our prayers, instead it is just life happening.
    And to add on…

    1. Instead of hoping, wishing, and waiting for something to change, YOU TAKE ACTION! YOU GET OUT AND VOTE!

    2. Any guarantee of “happily ever after” must begin with you.

    3. The only thing you can really count on is the unexpected.

    4. Whether you think you can or you can’t, either way you are right.

    5. In everything, balance must exist.

    6. Never judge anyone on what they speak about/of, they are only speaking of their experience.

    7. COMMITMENT is a topic that should be agreed upon, NOT EXPECTED

    8. N. Triple A. Q. A. (Never Assume Anything, Ask Questions, Always)

    9. Love only becomes impossible when we force two pieces of the puzzle that doesn’t fit.

    10. Women are the most precious gift for a man, personally from GOD.
